QuickChek and NFL defensive player Kayvon Thibodeaux have entered into a two-year ambassadorship. The deal, QuickChek’s first of its kind with a professional athlete, comes one year after the convenience store chain was named the Official Sub of the New York Giants, according to a press release from QuickChek.

As a brand ambassador, QuickChek said Thibodeaux will show fans and followers “how he gets into the game with QuickChek by highlighting fresh convenience at great prices, and the ease of ordering delivery through the QuickChek app.”

“We are very excited about this new relationship with Kayvon. Long before he stepped into the Giants’ training facility, Kayvon has shown a work ethic and drive to be better than yesterday. Outside of football, he mentors and empowers underserved youth to achieve more through his Jream Foundation, embodying one of QuickChek’s own philanthropic pillars,” said Blake Segal, SVP and head of QuickChek.

“I’m very excited about this new opportunity to serve as a partner for QuickChek. I’ve long been a fan of the quality and convenience you get from QuickChek, including my go-to order, the Chicken Parm Sub with vodka sauce,” Thibodeaux said.

Earlier this month, QuickChek launched a new rewards program and installed an app upgrade that offers rewards points at the pump. The retailer is the first convenience store of its kind to allow consumers to earn rewards points while at the pump in New Jersey.

Other retailers have teamed up with athletes and entered Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) partnerships with college athletes. Idaho-based Jacksons Food Stores partnered with Boise State University (BSU) defensive end Ahmed Hassanein (#91) and running back Jambres Dubar (#1), through a NIL partnership.

According to the retailer, Bronco fans can see the athletes in posts on Jacksons’ social media accounts, website, in the Jacksons Let’s Go Rewards app and on billboards. Additionally, followers of each athlete’s social media accounts will see sponsored content that spotlights Dubar’s and Hassanein’s connection with Jacksons.

Weigel’s recently added 29 players from universities across Tennessee, including the University of Tennessee, East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) to its roster of NIL athletes.
