ATLANTA – Sales of e-cigarettes jumped 132% from 2012 to 2016, while prices fell, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and reported in U.S. News.

While disposables were the first e-cigarettes on the market, rechargeables featuring prefilled cartridges are now preferred by most Americans who vape. The average monthly sales for rechargeables increased 154% between 2012 and 2016, but the average price of vaping devices fell by nearly half.

The number of adults who have tried e-cigarettes rose significantly between 2014 and 2016, while the prevalence of those considered current users fell. This indicates that consumers may be experimenting with e-cigarettes but not sticking with the habit, the report noted.
