Candy Brands Lean Into Creative Flavors and Collabs

Ferrero unveiled Marshmallow Butterfinger, Mars launched Snickers Sauces and more.

Ferrero recently unveiled its LTO Marshmallow Butterfinger. According to the company, it’s the “perfect blend of Butterfinger's signature crispety, crunchety texture and peanut-buttery center, wrapped in a smooth marshmallow-flavored coating for a fun and unexpected twist on the fan favorite.”

Available for a limited time this Halloween season, Ferrero said the Marshmallow Butterfinger taps into the “beloved flavor memories of classic fluffernutter sandwiches and transforms them into an exciting new candy experience.” Additionally, Ferrero's consumer testing revealed that 83% of consumers found marshmallow to be a unique flavor in the candy bar category.

“Back by consumer demand, Ferrero also recently rolled out the Crunch White, a white chocolate version of the original Crunch.” The LTO candy is available in 1.55 oz individually wrapped bars and larger 2.7 oz share packs.

Over at Mars, Snickers, the Official Chocolate Sponsor of the NFL, has teamed up with MVP star quarterback Josh Allen for the launch of Snickers Sauces—a limited-edition trio of dipping sauces made with Snickers ingredients.

The flavors are:

  • Caramel Buffalo: “Combines the smooth caramel found in every Snickers bar with classic Buffalo heat for a unique sweet and spicy combination.”
  • Peanut Teriyaki: “Features real Snickers peanuts together with notes of soy and garlic for a flavor-packed punch.”
  • Chocolate Barbecue: “Sweet and smoky flavors come together in the Chocolate Barbecue sauce, which uses our Snickers chocolate recipe, for an unexpected and saucy game day addition.”

Mars said fans can visit Snickers.com/Sauces to get the limited-edition sauces with the purchase of a pack of Josh Allen Snickers Minis. Weekly sauce drops also occur online during halftime of the 1 p.m. ET NFL Sunday games throughout September.

Mars also unveiled the new M&M’s Honey Roasted Peanut. The new flavor is a permanent addition to the lineup and is available in single size (1.63 oz), share size (2.83 oz) and sharing size stand up pouches (8.6 oz) at retailers nationwide this month.

Ferrara recently announced a multi-year partnership with the U.S. Soccer Federation, becoming the Official Candy Partner of U.S. Soccer, spanning both the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Team.
