Upscale c-store Foxtrot, a neighborhood market and corner store focused on sourcing local products, was named as one of the Top 10 Brands to Watch in 2024, as determined by Placer.ai in a recent white paper.

The research and analytics firm that tracks property foot traffic looked at location data and consumer demographic insights to identify ten brands gearing up for growth in 2024. The Chicago-based retailer, which has more than 30 locations in Texas, Illinois, Washington, Maryland, and Virginia, is “one of the brands redefining what a convenience store can be,” said the paper.

In addition to its local product offerings, the store also stocks pantry items geared toward an “upscale audience,” with specialty snacks, a curated wine selection, a coffee bar, grab-and-go food items, and a made-to-order cafe.

“Location intelligence data indicates that Foxtrot knows its audience—visitors to the chain were significantly more likely to fall into AGS: Behavior & Attitudes dataset’s ‘Wine Drinker’ or ‘Nutritionally Aware’ segments than visitors to nearby convenience stores,” wrote Placer.ai.

Foxtrot merged with Chicago-based grocer Dom’s Kitchen & Market at the end of 2023, reported NACS Daily. According to a press release announcing the merger, the two companies “want to disrupt the food shopping and cafe landscape, while redefining the neighborhood market with a multi-format and e-commerce experience built for the next-generation consumer.”

Trader Joe’s and Jersey Mike’s also made Placer.ai’s list of brands to watch.

In addition, Placer.ai released its Q4 2023 Quarterly Index, which highlighted the year-over-year increase in consumer foot traffic to discount and dollar stores (8%), grocery stores (4.4%) and superstores (3.7%).
