Campbell’s Debuts V8 +Hydrate Online

The new beverage will appear in stores in November.

CAMDEN, N.J. – Campbell Soup Co. is launching its newest iteration of V8 exclusively online this Thursday, Marketing Daily reports. V8 +Hydrate will be available only on Walmart.com and Amazon. In November, the beverage will make its way to traditional brick-and-mortar stores.

The V8 +Hydrate line is a “better-value, superior tasting beverage” aimed at health-conscious Americans, according to Campbell’s. The drinks contain natural electrolytes from sweet potato juice plus natural fruit flavors, such as Coconut Watermelon, Orange Grapefruit and Strawberry Cucumber.

More consumers are seeking out plant-based foods and drinks, plus functional beverages packed with health benefits. “V8 +Hydrate is a plant-based drink that plays in the ‘anytime refreshment’ category,” said Diego Palmieri, chief marketing officer for Campbell’s U.S. Meals and Beverages. “Natural electrolytes from vegetables, an appealing taste and more accessible price point are what differentiate V8 +Hydrate from competition.”

The core audience for V8 +Hydrate is millennials who “seek to live a full life and strive to become the best possible version of themselves. … They try to follow a healthy lifestyle and are careful about what they put in their bodies. They believe in moderation to achieve their health goals, stay active and seek out functional health benefits from beverages,” he said.

The decision to launch the new product online is part the company’s focus on digital marketing. “Consumers expect brands to ‘meet’ them on whatever platform they are on at any given time,” Palmieri said. “Today, around 1% of our sales are in these faster-growing channels, and there’s ample room for growth for many of our brands.”
