Dutch Bros Inc. plans to operate over 2,000 shops by the year 2029, its CEO said during an Investor Day at its support center in Tempe, Arizona last week. Dutch Bros also provided updates on the business.

In Q1, the QSR opened 27 shops through March 24, with up to three additional shops expected to open through the end of the quarter. System same shop sales increased 4.6% through March 24, relative to the comparable period in 2024.

“We are pleased to deliver quarter-to-date Q1 same shop sales above our expectations, supported by positive traffic and strong business momentum. This positive trend is a testament to the strength of our brand and the dedication of our team,” said Christine Barone, chief executive officer and president of Dutch Bros. “Last month, we proudly opened our 1,000th shop, and with a strong roadmap ahead, we are focused on our bold goal of reaching 2,029 shops in 2029… we are well positioned to deliver sustainable, long-term value while staying true to our mission of making a massive difference, one cup at a time.”

In a separate press release issued last week, Dutch Bros announced its plans to enter the consumer packaged goods market. In partnership with Trilliant Food & Nutrition LLC, Dutch Bros plans to launch a line of packaged coffee and related products to be sold in retail outlets.

“This new channel, structured as a licensing agreement, will allow us to share our passion for exceptional beverages with a wider audience, and we are confident that our dedication to quality and innovation will resonate with consumers. We look forward to this exciting journey and the opportunity to make our mark in the CPG space,” Barone said.

Last month, NACS Daily reported that Dutch Bros saw “impressive foot traffic growth over the past few years,” according to research firm Placer.ai.

Dutch Bros saw visits for the full year up 15.8% compared to 2023. “This momentum caps off several years of sustained growth [for] Dutch Bros which has expanded rapidly while maintaining consistent foot traffic increases. And though average visits per location at Dutch Bros were slightly down year over year in 2024, the visit gaps were relatively modest, indicating that the chain is succeeding in expanding with minimal cannibalization to its existing venues,” said Placer.ai.
