Casey’s Pizza and Illinois Farm Families (IFF) are partnering up for the entire month of October to promote local farm families supporting the state’s largest industry, reports Morning AgClips.

Through October 31, each Casey’s pizza comes with a flyer that features 10 farm families from across the state. The promotion is available at all Casey’s Illinois locations. According to Morning AgClips, the promotion is a continuation of IFF’s “We are the 96%” campaign, intended to highlight and raise awareness that 96% of Illinois farms are family owned.

“Casey’s sells pizzas in nearly every county in Illinois, offering the opportunity to bring our message about family farm ownership to both urban and rural folks in Illinois. It’s a natural partnership with a natural fit, and we are so excited to celebrate,” said Jon Rosenstiel, chairman of IL Corn and a farmer from Pearl City.

Additionally, Lindsay Mitchell, director of communications for IL Corn and member of the IFF coalition, describes the partnership as an investment in consumer engagement, according to Brownfield Ag News. “Families that maybe don’t understand agriculture, they trust other families. So whenever we highlight that statistic we’re really making an opportunity for farmers to be able to talk to non-farmers and for them to start to build a relationship,” Mitchell said.

Furthermore, Brownfield Ag News reports that Casey’s and IFF will give away 96 pizzas at five different grain elevators to celebrate National Pizza Month. Today, farmers delivering to CHS Elburn in Maple Park, CGB Enfield in Enfield, Big River Energy in Galva, Gateway FS in Carlyle and Frito-Lay in Sidney will receive a free pizza and drink during lunchtime hours.
