Second Schnucks Fresh to Open

The supermarket’s smaller store concept is coming to Missouri.

Schnucks Markets will open its second “Fresh” store in Oak Grove Village, Missouri, on October 25, with a concept that is closer to c-store than its traditional grocery model.

The company debuted its Fresh store concept in 2021, which focuses on offering fresh food options to communities too small to support full-scale stores.

"Schnucks Fresh provides an opportunity for growth into markets that may not be able to support a conventional supermarket size but that lack our signature fresh foods offerings," said Ted Schnuck, the family-owned company's executive vice president, supermarkets at Schnuck Markets, Inc.

The new location in Missouri will be 23,000 square feet, a third of the size of the company’s traditional 60,000 square feet floor plan.

According to Supermarket News, the Oak Grove Village location will offer fresh food departments including produce, meat, seafood, deli and bakery products. Additionally, the store will include a CVS pharmacy with a drive-thru option.

“We look forward to continuing our mission to nourish people’s lives and to show area customers what we can offer them when building a store from the ground up,” said Schnucks Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck. “Schnucks Fresh will be a store where customers will find an extensive selection of the same fresh products for which Schnucks is known throughout the Midwest.”

Schnucks Fresh will also offer curbside pickup and delivery in partnership with Instacart.
