The Nebraska-based c-store Cubby’s announced its quarterly earnings for its campaign Raise Some Dough, with the funds going to local schools and youth programs in the community. Cubby’s launched the program in June 2018, and 21 Cubby’s locations throughout Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota participate. The program raised $11,521 in the first quarter, and now nearly $25,000 for 2023.

“This donation would not be possible without the loyal support of our customers,” said De Lone Wilson, president of Cubby’s Convenience Inc. “We are proud to continuing supporting schools and youth programming in the communities we serve.”

For every large Godfather’s Pizza Express or breakfast pizza sold at a participating Cubby’s, $1 is donated to Raise Some Dough. Since its inception and launch, the fundraising campaign has raised over $125,000. The money goes towards educational and athletic purposes at the receiving schools and organizations.

Cubby’s has used social media and traditional marketing efforts to promote engagement with its customers to drive donations.

Listen to the Convenience Matters podcast episode that features Cubby’s president De Lone Wilson and chief operating officer Mike Wilson. They discuss successful employee engagement strategies. De Lone Wilson explains the importance of transparency with employees and how sharing the reasons for doing things improves productivity and morale. He goes on to say that it isn’t necessarily sharing the one main reason for doing something but “I think it’s a series of communicating a bunch of small ‘whys.’”
