Rutter’s Children’s Charities will be continuing its annual Secret Santa donations. The program began in 2016 as a way to direct donations to local organizations during the holiday season.

Nominated Rutter’s employees get the chance to choose an eligible charity, and Rutter’s Children’s Charities donates $1,000 to that organization. This year, 100 Rutter’s employees were chosen to participate, totaling $100,000 in donations, according to the announcement.

The selected charities have an emphasis on children, education and local community efforts.

“Each year, giving Rutter’s employees the opportunity to direct donations towards causes that matter to them is one of our favorite things to do,” said Chris Hartman, president of Rutter’s Children’s Charities. “Being able to raise the total amount donated to $100,000 is exciting for Rutter’s Children’s Charities, and we look forward to seeing the impact on our community.”

Since its inception, the Secret Santa program has donated over $450,000 to many local charities. Some of the recipients included the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Salvation Army.

Elsewhere, South Carolina-based fuel and convenience retailer The Spinx Company announced that it has raised $324,960 for the American Cancer Society during a month-long, statewide campaign to provide support for cancer patients and their families.

And Mirabito, a New York-based convenience retailer, participated in the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, ran a toy drive and donated $2,500 to a local organization last month.
