ALTOONA, Pa.—Sheetz is reducing the price of its Unleaded 88 to $1.99 a gallon through November 28 at the 368 Sheetz stores that offer the gasoline as a way to relieve some of the spending pressures of holiday driving.

Customers can check if their local Sheetz sells Unleaded 88 through the Sheetz mobile app or website.

“Sheetz is a family-owned and -operated company, and at the heart of everything we do is giving back to our customers and the communities we reside in,” said Travis Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz. “We hope this price reduction provides much-needed relief at the pump for our customers as they travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.”

Sheetz is also offering a special promotion after this offer ends on November 28 for customers who sign up to become My Sheetz Rewardz members. Using code FUELUP88, customers who purchase Unleaded 88 fuel will receive 500 points within 24 hours of the promotion ending. These points can be redeemed for fuel discounts plus food and drink items inside the c-store. Customers can become a My Sheetz Rewardz member by downloading the Sheetz app.

According to Sheetz, Unleaded 88 has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for use in all 2001 and newer cars, trucks and SUVs. The only difference in the makeup of Unleaded 88 and 87 is the percentage of ethanol. Unleaded 88 contains 5% more ethanol than Unleaded 87. Unleaded 88 provides a higher-octane level than regular 87 fuel that helps boost horsepower and efficiency in a vehicle.

Sheetz is based in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and operates over 640 store locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.

During the summer when gas prices were at record highs, Sheetz reduced the price of Unleaded 88 to $3.99 a gallon and reduced E85 fuel to $3.49 per gallon. At the time, gas prices were averaging around $4.84 a gallon for unleaded fuel.

In September, Sheetz announced a discount on diesel in celebration of Truck Driver Appreciation week. The discounted price was $4.49 and was available at all Sheetz locations that sold the fuel.

GetGo recently announced a fuel discount sale at all its Indiana locations effective November 21, 2022, through January 8, 2023. All customers who scan their Advantage Card or myPerks card at the pump will get a 10-cents-per-gallon discount on their entire fuel purchase. The discount also adds to the already-discounted AdvantagePAY price, and AdvantagePAY members will get up to 40 cents off per gallon.

Also, Pilot Flying J recently announced it is extending its 10-cent gas discount through December 31. Customers can save 10 cents on every gallon of gas by stopping at any participating Pilot or Flying J travel center and scanning or entering their myRewards Plus number at the pump.

Last month, Wawa launched its “Fueling Good” initiative which extends its Wawa App fuel discount program through November 30.

This Thanksgiving holiday, 54.6 million Americans are planning to travel 50 miles or more away from their homes, according to AAA, and most travelers will reach their destinations by car, which is similar to last year. Nearly 49 million people are expected to drive, and while Thanksgiving road trips have slightly risen—up 0.4% from 2021—car travel remains 2.5% below 2019 levels.
