BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania – Sheetz is adding eight new refrigerated, walk-in “beer caves” in Pennsylvania, using repurposed coolers for domestic, craft, imported beers and malt beverages.
In the Bethlehem store specifically, there’s already a large seating area used by customers to eat made-to-order food and coffee beverages. It’s big enough to accommodate 30 customers—just enough to meet the state-required minimum to qualify as a beer café.
“For us, it’s another way to deliver on our mission to be the ultimate one-stop-shop,” said Nick Ruffner, public relations manager for Sheetz, in a Lehigh Valley Business article.
Dining area consumption is restricted to two beers per customer, while the cave’s to-go limit is an 18-pack of beer. Pennsylvania state law restricts beer sales to between 7:00 am and 2:00 am Monday through Saturday and between 9:00 am and 2:00 am on Sundays.
The new beer caves will open in Sheetz’s Berwick, Patton, Bethlehem, Monroeville, Cresson, Mount Pleasant, Clarion and New Castle stores.
