Casey’s is partnering with celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern to bring back a customer-requested favorite, the BBQ Brisket Pizza.
Launching ahead of National Barbeque Day, the pizza features Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce, a blend of 100% real mozzarella and cheddar cheeses and is topped with double-hardwood, pit-smoked beef brisket that’s dry-rubbed and slow-smoked for up to 16 hours, Casey’s said. The pizza is then topped with jalapeños, red onions and finished with a creamy ranch drizzle.
“When guests started asking to bring back our BBQ Brisket Pizza, we couldn’t say no,” said Brad Haga, senior vice president of prepared food and dispensed beverages at Casey’s. “Some may say it’s a little crazy to put BBQ brisket on a pizza, but it’s just the Casey’s way. We’ve taken the smoky, satisfying flavors of a backyard barbecue and put it on our homemade pizza. It doesn’t get much better than that.”
BBQ Brisket Pizza is available on Casey’s original or thin crust through September 2 on the Casey’s app. To celebrate the launch, Casey’s is offering a Memorial Day Weekend deal of buy one, get one 50% off any large pizza from May 23 through May 26.
Casey’s partnered with four-time James Beard and Emmy award-winning chef Zimmern, and self-proclaimed lover of gas station food, to promote the LTO.
“I love gas station food and have tasted three lifetimes’ worth throughout my travels, and Casey’s pizza rises to the top,” said Zimmern. “Their homemade pizza is packed with big flavors, unique textures and fresh ingredients. The BBQ Brisket Pizza is a perfect example of that. I can’t wait for their guests to rediscover it this summer. Gas station pizza is my guilty pleasure—been saying it for about 20 years—and Casey’s is simply the best.”
Zimmern was one of the NACS Show closing general session speakers in 2024, along with Chef David Chang. During a panel and cooking demo, the two chefs discussed how c-store operators can bring innovation to their foodservice programs.
Both chefs further discussed how retailers can push the boundaries in a Convenience Matters podcast. Listen to the full conversation, “Chefs Andrew Zimmern and David Chang Talk About C-Store Food,” here.
