The Wills Group has selected seven nonprofits to which it will donate a total of $450,000. The funds will go toward food resources in Mid-Atlantic communities. Additionally, the company has made improvements to Tanglewood Park in Maryland as a part of the Reimaging Outdoor Spaces Signature Program.

The Wills Group and its Community Impact Committee assessed the food scarcity in the Mid-Atlantic region and determined a plan of action. “As the cost of living rises and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits decrease, more individuals and families struggle to put food on the table. Recognizing this pressing issue, the Wills Group has allocated $450,000 in grants for seven nonprofit organizations that address both immediate hunger concerns and long-term solutions to combat food insecurity,” the company said in a statement.

The partners that were selected have a track record of success within the community and align with the company’s commitment to public service. The initiatives will go towards funding school pantries and nutrition education and enhancing food delivery services and fresh food distribution for children.

“The Wills Group, and our Dash In and Splash In locations, remain deeply committed to understanding the needs of the communities we serve. We take a hands-on approach when it comes to community engagement, not only providing grant funding but also actively participating in the selection process.”

The next steps and improvements to Tanglewood Park are:

• An artist meet-and-greet event in which local artists are invited to contribute their ideas for the park’s revitalization.
• The creation of an art review committee made up of community members, local art experts and representatives from the Wills Group to ensure fair evaluations of future art installations.
• An ADA-accessible path and brand-new benches for seating throughout the park.

The Wills Group has received the Washington Business Journal’s 2023 Corporate Philanthropy Award for the third year in a row due to its efforts and dedication to giving back.
