With a new twist on the burger chain’s staple item, McDonald’s is releasing a Chicken Big Mac on October 10. The sandwich features the same familiar toppings as the Big Mac but with two tempura-battered chicken patties in place of the two all-beef patties.
“With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items, the Big Mac, and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans,” said Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s USA. “By tapping into some of our fans’ biggest passions from dupe culture to live-streaming, we’re able to serve up more than just a sandwich. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy in this campaign and we’re bringing experiences that will surprise and delight them, all before the Chicken Big Mac hits restaurants.”
McDonald’s is also gearing up for Halloween with its Happy Meal Boo Buckets. Starting October 15, Happy Meal Boo Buckets will make their return to participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide. “This year, the nostalgic pails are getting a refresh with our new Monster designs in white, orange, green, and a brand-new color, blue,” the QSR said in a press release.
McDonald’s said that customers can customize their Monster Boo Bucket pails with themed stickers for a “monstrous makeover.”
Meanwhile, Wendy’s is celebrating the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants—the QSR is partnering with Paramount for the Wendy’s Krabby Patty Kollab. The two are launching a Krabby Patty Kollab Burger and Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty on Tuesday, October 8.
Wendy’s said the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty is the brand’s Vanilla Frosty with a Pineapple Mango flavored puree swirl—a first-of-its-kind Frosty flavor innovation. The Krabby Patty features a quarter pound of Wendy’s beef, two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and a top-secret Krabby Kollab sauce on a toasted bun.
“In a world of people cutting corners, Wendy’s is known for quality in everything we do—from our fresh, famous food to collaborations with brands that our fans love,” said Lindsay Radkoski, U.S. chief marketing officer for The Wendy’s Company. “So, it makes sense that two of the most iconic squares in pop culture are teaming up to bring a taste of this unique, limited-time experience to life for fans of all ages!”
Customers in Los Angeles can enjoy an exclusive first bite of Wendy’s Krabby Patty Kollab Meal on Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8 through an immersive Wendy’s drive-thru experience in Panorama City.
Last month, Chick-fil-A announced its first restaurant locations as part of the company’s move into the United Kingdom. With new sites in Belfast, Ireland, and Leeds, Liverpool, and London in England, the new stores will mark the first locations outside of North America for the restaurant brand, according to the press release.
“Serving communities is at the heart of everything we do, and we look forward to bringing Chick-fil-A’s delicious food and signature hospitality to Belfast, Leeds, Liverpool, and London, and continuing our long-term investment in the U.K.,” said Anita Costello, chief international officer at Chick-fil-A Inc.
The brand will donate £25,000 to a local non-profit organization in celebration of each new restaurant opening.
