Parker’s Kitchen recently raised $400,000 during its 12th annual Fueling the Community Charity Golf Tournament, which it said was a record amount “to support local schools in the communities the company serves throughout Georgia and South Carolina,” according to a press release.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to raise $400,000 to support local schools in communities throughout our corporate footprint,” said Brandon Hofmann, Parker’s Kitchen president. “We look forward to presenting Fueling the Community checks to various school systems in the coming months and making a positive impact throughout the region.”
Parker’s Kitchen said that since the Fueling the Community charitable initiative was originally founded in 2011, the company has donated a percentage of gas sold at all Parker’s and Parker’s Kitchen locations on the first Wednesday of each month to area schools. Over the past 13 years, Parker’s Kitchen has given more than $2.5 million to area schools.
This week, Maverik and Kum & Go (K&G) launched their fourth annual “Round Up Your Change” campaign in support of Feeding America. Customers are “invited to round up their in-store cash and credit transactions to the nearest dollar—or contribute even more. Donations will support the movement to end hunger in the local communities where Maverik and K&G operate, spanning the Midwest to the West Coast,” according to a press release.
“Our hearts are full as we launch this year’s Round Up Your Change campaign, knowing that every dollar rounded up will support our neighbors experiencing food insecurity in the communities we serve,” says Maverik’s CEO and Chief Adventure Guide, Crystal Maggelet. “Expanding our reach across our full 20-state combined footprint this year allows us to support even more members of our extended Maverik family.”
Maverik and K&G said that 90% of donations raised will stay local to the community where the donation was made, with the remaining funds supporting the activities of the Feeding America national organization.
