Wawa’s first store in the state of Georgia will open November 14. A grand opening event for the state’s first store will include festivities, ribbon cuttings, announcements of community partnerships and support for local organizations, and Wawa’s “Hoagies for Heroes” initiative.
Wawa said that it continues to build a pipeline of sites in Georgia and currently has sites under contract in: Brunswick, Jesup, Hinesville, Pooler, Waycross, Bainbridge, Tifton, Valdosta and Albany. Over the next five-8 years, Wawa “plans to build and open 26+ stores in Georgia, opening three to four stores per year. To build each store, Wawa will invest approximately $7.5 million and employ, on average, 140 contractors and local partners. Once open, each store will employ an average of 35 associates, with Wawa expecting to create more than 900 long-term new jobs as a result of expansion in Georgia,” according to the press release.
Wawa’s new location in Elizabeth City, North Carolina will open October 31, according to local news station WTKR. “The location on 406 Halstead Road will mark the 51st location in North Carolina, and Wawa officials plan to reach 90 stores over the next eight-10 years,” reported WTKR.
Weigel’s held a grand opening event for its newest location in Cleveland, Tennessee. As part of the grand opening, Weigel’s donated $1,000 each to the Cleveland Police Department and the Cleveland Fire Department. “These donations were made in recognition of the vital work both departments do to ensure the safety and well-being of the community,” Weigel’s said.
TravelCenters of America opened two new TA Express locations in Pennsylvania—one in Hazleton and the other in Pine Grove.
CEFCO opened a new location in Pensacola, Florida this month, located off of E. Nine Mile Road.
Onvo celebrated its new Pottsville, Pennsylvania location. “Our largest store yet at almost 10,000 square feet, this store definitely exemplifies the best of what Onvo has to offer. The site features our first made-to-order Food on the Fly kitchen, which will be serving our signature toasty Craveritos, bowls and handcrafted espresso drinks,” Harman Aulakh, vice president of marketing at Onvo, posted on LinkedIn.
“Other exciting features include our first ‘Barking Lot’ dog park, for those traveling with four-legged friends, state-of-the-art showers and laundry facilities, and four EV fast chargers that will be installed in the near future,” Aulakh posted.
Toot’n Totum posted on LinkedIn that its new Lubbock, Texas location is now open. The store features a drive-thru.
Chestnut Market recently held an opening ceremony for its new store in Old Lyme, Connecticut. “A heartfelt thank you to the city officials who attended our ribbon-cutting ceremony and to our wonderful customers for their overwhelming support,” Chestnut Market said in a LinkedIn post. “To make the day truly special, we presented Lyme-Old Lyme Food Share Garden with a check contributing to the work they do in the community to alleviate food insecurities.”
