QSR Magazine released its 2024 Top 50 Fast-Food Chains Ranked by Sales list, which showed that McDonald’s still reigns supreme with the highest revenue for the year. McDonald’s had a total change of 13 units from 2022 to 2023, for a total of 13,457 units in the United States.
Starbucks ranked second on QSR Magazine’s list, with a total gain in units of 473 from 2022 to 2023, bringing its total number of units in the United States in 2023 to 16,346. The report also showed that Starbucks rival Dunkin’ gained an additional 210 units in 2023, bringing its total to 9,580 units in 2023.
Fellow coffee shop Dutch Bros had a positive uptick in units for 2023, with an additional 160 units gained from the previous year.
Subway took a hit in 2023, ranking 9th on the list. Subway lost 443 units in 2023, bringing its total number of units to 20,133. Burger King also had a negative change in units, losing 264 units from 2022 to 2023.
Hardee’s also was in the red for unit changes in 2023—it was down 45 units from 2022.
Earlier this year, QSR Magazine reported on how QSRs are improving their drive-thru service times, with Taco Bell coming in first place with an average service time of about 3:25. The report also found that Chick-fil-A had the highest accuracy rate of 92%.
