BENTONVILLE, Ark.—Walmart+ members can now get up to 10 cents off on every gallon of fuel they purchase at more than 14,000 participating gas stations, according to a news release.

Walmart had been offering its Walmart+ members a fuel discount, but the savings have now doubled, and the retailer has partnered with Exxon and Mobil stations to add an additional 12,000 gas stations where members can save—a more than sixfold increase.

“We welcome Walmart+ members to Exxon and Mobil’s 12,000 plus stations across the country and look forward to giving them 10 cents off per gallon,” said Bill Barenborg, U.S. marketing manager, ExxonMobil. “We know that families want to maximize their budgets and look forward to helping them do just that while filling up with Synergy™ fuel technology that helps improve fuel economy, protect engines and enables better vehicle responsiveness.”

Other benefits and offerings that are included in a Walmart+ membership include newly added six months of Spotify Premium at no cost, free grocery deliveries from Walmart stores, free shipping on Walmart.com with no order minimum and Scan & Go contactless checkout. Walmart employees receive a free Walmart+ membership as a benefit.

Walmart+ costs $98 per year or $12.95 per month.

“Ninety-one percent of our customers are aware of the increased prices at the pump, and nearly half of those told us they are changing behaviors because of them,” said Chris Cracchiolo, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart+. “More access to a bigger discount will make a difference for our customers. We want Walmart+ to help our customers save time and money, not only when they’re shopping with us, but throughout their day. We’re excited to continue to find new ways to deliver for them.”

Cracchiolo told CNBC that Walmart+ members are more lucrative and frequent shoppers than its nonsubscriber customers, and they spend more than double that of a nonmember Walmart shopper.

“We know Walmart+ customers are more loyal to Walmart,” he told CNBC. “They’re giving us a higher share of their overall wallet. They transact with us more frequently and spend more on average than nonmembers, and that behavior is really because we’ve developed that trust and they see value in the program.”

He added that the grocery part of the business is “at the core of how members shop with us.”
