7-Eleven Inc. is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Operation Chill, the company's “signature community outreach program aimed at promoting positive police-youth engagement and neighborhood connection,” according to a press release.

The retailer said that since its launch in 1995, the program has "encouraged meaningful interactions between law enforcement and young people by empowering officers to reward kids they observe performing good deeds or displaying positive behavior with a coupon redeemable for a free small Slurpee drink at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes stores.

“Fostering stronger, safer communities is a core tenet of 7-Eleven Inc.'s philanthropic mission to build thriving communities. As the program builds on three successful decades, 7-Eleven Inc. remains committed to being a catalyst for connection—one Slurpee drink at a time,” 7-Eleven said.

The Operation Chill program has grown to include more than 1,300 law enforcement agencies across the United States, with over 24 million coupons distributed to date. This year, 7-Eleven said it will issue nearly 640,000 coupons to participating law enforcement agencies for officers to reward children in their local communities.

"Connecting with the community—especially our youth—is at the heart of what we do. A free Slurpee drink coupon may seem small, but it opens the door to meaningful conversations and trust-building moments between officers and kids," said Detective P. Wolan, Grapevine Police Department.

In other recent 7-Eleven news, earlier this month the retailer partnered with Blue Diamond to release Cherry Slurpee-flavored almonds. Blue Diamond Cherry Slurpee Almonds are available for a limited time at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes locations nationwide in 1.5-ounce snack tubes.
