Nisqually Markets, a Washington-state based and Native-owned chain, is launching its new spam musubi at its convenience store locations—a “bold and flavorful new offering that reflects the rich diversity of the Pacific Northwest and continues to raise the bar on what customers can expect from a convenience store,” the retailer said in a press release sent to NACS. The item is now available at participating Nisqually Markets locations.
The retailer describes spam musubi as a “beloved snack with roots in Polynesian cuisine.” It combines grilled Spam with seasoned rice, which is then wrapped in seaweed.
“We’re excited to bring spam musubi to our stores,” said Sam Roark, director of retail operations for Nisqually Markets. “This new addition is about meeting more people where they are—offering food that resonates with their tastes, experiences and traditions.”
“Nisqually Markets has always aimed to be more than just a place to fuel up,” said Jennifer Thompson, food service manager for Nisqually Markets. “We’re a reflection of the vibrant and evolving community around us. Offering diverse and delicious options is one way we continue to grow alongside our customers.”
Last month, Nisqually Markets launched “Ramen Go!” a “state-of-the-art instant ramen experience.” Ramen Go! items are EBT-eligible, “reinforcing Nisqually Markets’ commitment to providing high-quality, accessible food options for all members of the community,” the retailer said.
“As the first convenience store chain of its kind to offer a dedicated ramen preparation station, Nisqually Markets continues to lead the Tribal convenience store industry in redefining what it means to be convenient, accessible and community-forward,” the retailer said.
