IRVING, Texas, & CINCINNATI—7‑Eleven Inc., Speedway and Stripes, along with participating independent franchise owners and operators, are hosting a national hiring event on Tuesday, May 3, across more than 13,000 stores in the U.S. The convenience retailers are collectively hiring 60,000 employees.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., candidates can apply to all open positions in-person at any participating location or online at careers.7‑Eleven.com and Speedway.com/careers. In-person applicants could receive same-day interviews and on-the-spot job offers.

Career opportunities include both entry-level and management positions inside the store as well as support roles and IT positions and maintenance technicians.

Meanwhile, Kroger is looking to fill 23,000 jobs and is also hosting a hiring event to get applicants, according to a news release. The event is on Saturday, April 30, with job openings across all departments, including retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, supply chain, merchandising, logistics, corporate, pharmacy and healthcare roles. The event will take place from 1–5 p.m. EDT for virtual interviews and 1–5 p.m. local time for nationwide, on-site interviews.

"After our successful fall hiring event, we are eager to once again open our doors—virtually and in-person—to welcome new members to our organization," said Tim Massa, Kroger senior vice president and chief people officer. "Hosting a hybrid event allows us to reach and interact with more candidates in the way that works best for them while also showing them the many fresh, uplifting career opportunities available across our company."

Kroger starts employee pay at $17 an hour on average, and when coupled with benefits, average total compensation is more than $22 an hour. The grocer also offers up to $21,000 in tuition reimbursement for both part-time and full-time associates, as well as other health benefits and perks.
