On-demand delivery service wants users to say, ‘Goodbye convenience store. Hello goPuff.’

CHICAGO – GoPuff recently added Chicago to its cities of operation. The company is an on-demand delivery service that’s “bringing you what you need, as soon as you need it, with nothing but a few taps and 30 minutes in between. With goPuff you carry a sleek and effortless convenience store, smoke shop and mini-mart right in your pocket.”

GoPuff offers items sold at “normal convenience store prices,” and delivery for orders $35 and more are free. Otherwise goPuff charges a delivery fee of $1.95. The company offers more than 3,000 items from a handful of categories, including snack foods, beer, household essentials, fresh foods, ice cream, party supplies and a range of better-for-you items. The company keeps its own warehouse stored with items users choose to order via online or through a mobile app.

BuiltInChicago.com writes that Philadelphia-based goPuff is now delivering in 11 markets, with Chicago experiencing the fastest growth so far.

While in college, goPuff co-founder Yakir Gola was the only one out of six roommates with a car. "Everyone kept asking for favors: 'Can you drive me to 7-Eleven, can you drive me to grab some pizza, to pick up some beer?'" he told the news source. “We wanted to make it affordable to bring the convenience store to your door instead.”

The news source notes that the service initially focused on the “munchies market,” but quickly expanded to organic snacks, household cleaning products and staples like eggs and milk. The company hopes to open up smaller warehouses to stock the most popular products that customers order, which will allow for shorter delivery times.
