Chick-fil-A is reversing its decision to remove its side salad from its menu after an outcry from restaurant fans on social media, reports USA Today.

“Based on feedback, we’ve chosen to continue serving the Side Salad at participating restaurant locations,” wrote the QSR on its website. “We are thrilled that customers can continue enjoying this menu item.”

In early March, a Georgia Chick-fil-A location posted an image of a flier to Facebook announcing the side salad would be removed from the menu starting April 3. “I think this is not a good decision,” one Facebook user commented. “A lot of people eat that salad with nuggets.”

Many side-salad fans took to Twitter to express their frustration over the removal. One user tweeted: “@ChickfilA  PLEASE DON’T GET RID OF THE SIDE SALAD!!”

Chick-fil-A responded: “Thanks for reaching out, Alissa. Chick-fil-A is always evaluating its menu offerings and recently made the decision to remove the Side Salad starting April 3. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to continuing to serve you in the future!”

According to Chick-fil-A, “our guests are at the forefront of every decision we make whether testing new culinary creations or rethinking our menu offerings.”

Chick-fil-A recently announced it is upping the number of points reward members must use to receive merchandise perks. The chicken chain recently sent customers an email announcing that the increase will go into effect April 4, and while some points will change, the company also plans to give loyalty members the ability to earn more menu items and even complete meals.

Convenience retail loyalty programs have steadily expanded across the last several years with a focus on providing customers with discounts, promotions, and rewards. While these benefits are highly valued by loyalty members, most loyalty programs offer comparable monetary benefits to shoppers. Building engagement with shoppers through the loyalty program requires more than transactional benefits. Convenience retailers have an opportunity to improve engagement with loyalty members by evolving their offer.
