BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Walmart is rolling out its personal shopper service, Jetblack, in areas of New York. But the new service doesn’t quite align with the company’s low-price model.

The new digital concierge service aims to help “busy moms” get their shopping done. For $50 a month, customers can send a text for what they need and have it delivered—sometimes even on the same day.

You can’t order everything though: Customers still must pick up perishable foods, alcohol and prescriptions in stores. The new service also offers gift-wrapping, hand-written cards, curated recommendations and pickup for returns.

“With Jetblack, we have created an entirely new concept that enables consumers to get exactly what they need through the convenience of text messaging and the freedom of a nearly unlimited product catalogue,” said Jenny Fleiss, Jetblack’s co-founder and CEO in a statement.

Jetblack is powered by automated bots that send orders to employees, who fulfill orders. The technology is part of Jet.com—a company that Walmart acquired for $3.3 billion. While the products primarily come from Walmart and Jet.com, the service also can deliver products from third-party retailers. Jetblack is the first business to emerge from Walmart’s Store No. 8 technology incubator.
