Although your employees may never be at risk for violence at your business, everyone should be prepared for the possibility. Join NACS on Wednesday, December 18, at 2 p.m. EST for the webinar “Being Prepared for Violence in the Workplace,” which will discuss ways to predict and mitigate potential violent situations in the workplace.
This discussion among industry experts will teach participants about types of workplace violence, personal and company responsibilities to help prevent violence, warning signs to look out for, what to do if you suspect a threat and what to do in the event violence does occur.
Speakers include Margaret Hardin Mannion, manager of government relations, NACS; Gera Atkins, VP of operations, Ready Training Online; and Crystal Halsey, director of training and leadership development, GPM Investments LLC.

Earlier this month, NACS convened its first Loss Prevention and Safety Symposium in Dallas.
Lori Buss Stillman, vice president of research and education at NACS, kicked off the symposium by sharing three key areas of focus:
-
Training and Education: “The issues we face today are different from those five years ago,” said Stillman. Retailers need more tools, resources and training for their employees.
-
Data and Measurement: There is a need for accurate and consistent data to measure the industry's issues and use that data to identify emerging issues and opportunities for training and resources.
-
Advocacy: Effective advocacy requires good data, and anecdotal evidence is not enough. “We need solid empirical data to understand the situation and advocate for change,” said Stillman.
