EVgo, the leading public fast-charging provider for electric vehicles, has integrated Rivian Automotive models (R1T and R1S) into its Autocharge+ program, now totaling 30 vehicle types eligible for the program. The newly added models can now seamlessly connect to the EVgo charging network with a simple hookup to a charging station.

According to The EV Report, here are some key points about EVgo:

  • EVgo’s Autocharge+ allows eligible EVs to commence a charging session within moments, negating the need for any external apps, credit card swipes, or tapping an EVgo RFID card.
  • Since its launch in September 2022, Autocharge+ has seen a substantial uptick in usage, accounting for 13% of all charging sessions on EVgo’s nationwide network.
  • Alongside Rivian’s R1T and R1S, six other EV models have been incorporated into the Autocharge+ program over the past 12 months.

Ivo Steklac, EVgo’s chief technology officer, noted the desire for seamless charging to recruit more EV drivers. “The more frictionless and dependable an experience is, the more people will embrace it.”

German-based battery storage manufacturer ADS-TEC Energy is partnering with eliso, an electric vehicle charging provider, to build out a more robust network of EV chargers across Europe. As noted in a company press release, “ADS-TEC Energy's charging solutions and integrated energy storage systems make it possible to balance the supply and demand of electricity from renewable sources in real time, because they can temporarily store electricity from one's own photovoltaic system to help stabilize the grid.”

“We are pleased that in partnership with eliso we can continue to significantly advance the expansion of the fast-charging infrastructure in Germany, particularly in inner cities, and we see great potential in this cooperation," said Thomas Speidel, CEO, ADS-TEC Energy. "Our storage-based platform solutions are simple and quick to install, without additional grid expansion. They offer outstanding charging performance, allowing e-vehicles to charge up to a range of more than 100 kilometers (62 miles) in just a few minutes.”
