Convenience customers enjoy the food offers available at their local c-store. From sun-up to sun-down (and maybe a midnight run here and there), c-store favorites are no longer limited to the roller grill, and retailers are continually introducing high-quality menu items and limited-time-offers to entice customers into their store.

Foodservice categories contributed 25.6% of in-store sales in 2022, translating to $56,491 per store, per month. The top selling category, prepared food, represented the largest share of foodservice and accounted for 68.4% of foodservice sales.

In fact, prepared food was the No. 1 sales and gross profit contributor across all in-store categories on a per store, per month basis—and the sales are growing.

So, how can retailers continue to capitalize on record-breaking prepared food sales?

According to David Portalatin, sr. vice president and food industry advisor at Circana, convenience retailers can follow the crumbs of consumer eating patterns.

Join Portalatin at the 2024 NACS State of the Industry Summit to explore the dayparts where c-stores have historically thrived. He’ll also delve into the established and emerging occasions that create opportunity for convenience retailers to capture foodservice occasions throughout the day.

Both retailers and suppliers will take away insights that can enable collaboration for foodservice success and find ways to engage consumers with creative foodservice solutions.
