The Value of Can and Bottle Recycling

With more than half of all convenience store customers (54%) saying they’d like to see more recycling at their local c-store, there is an opportunity for the industry to enhance current practices.

To help convenience retailers enhance their current recycling program, NACS and the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI) have developed a new resource, “The Value of Can and Bottle Recycling,” that offers tips and suggestions for improving current practices, how to effectively communicate the goals of the program with staff and customers, as well as a checklist to help retailers reduce contamination in their recycling bins.

The new resource focuses on beverage can and bottle recycling, which account for one-third of the items littered outside of a convenience store, along with information on the benefits of recycling, steps to help improve recycling at stores, and additional tools and resources available through NACS and CMI.
