PepsiCo’s Doritos recently launched its new Doritos Protein tortilla-style chips. The company said Doritos Protein hits shelves next month and will have 10 grams of protein per one ounce serving. The company will release a single-serving bag with 17 grams of protein later this year. The new snack launches with two flavors: Doritos Protein Nacho Cheese and Doritos Protein Sweet & Tangy BBQ.
“The new product is a strategic expansion for the brand into the rapidly growing protein snack category while maintaining the tasty, bold flavor and iconic crunch that has defined Doritos for generations,” PepsiCo said.
The Doritos Protein launch comes on the heels of other better-for-you launches from PepsiCo, including SmartFood Fiber Pop coated popcorn, SunChips Fiber and Pepsi Prebiotic Cola.
In 2025, PepsiCo announced it would acquire Poppi, a prebiotic soda brand, for $1.95 billion.
The company also rolled out “colorless” alternatives of Doritos and Cheetos in late 2025, called Simply NKD.
Doritos also recently teamed up with Jack Link’s for the rollout of Jack Link's Doritos Nacho Cheese flavored beef jerky and meat sticks.
The brands said the new snack is “seasoned with the bold flavor of Doritos Nacho Cheese flavor,” and is “an extension of the industry-leading partnership forged between Jack Link’s and Frito-Lay in 2023.”
The products are now available nationwide. Consumers can reportedly find them next to existing Jack Link’s x Frito-Lay jerky and stick flavors like Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili, Doritos Sweet & Tangy BBQ and Flamin' Hot.
"Consumers want more protein, more flavor and more convenience—and that's exactly what this collaboration delivers,” said SVP of Marketing and R&D at Link Snacks, Holly LaVallie.
