Advocate For the Industry

NACS advocates on behalf  of the convenience and fuel retailing industry before Congress, federal agencies and in the courts, working to advance policies that support your business and protect it from rules and regulations that can have a negative impact.

Retailer engagement in the legislative and regulatory process is essential to the industry’s long-term success. As we continue to advocate for our industry’s key issues on Capitol Hill, it is important that members of Congress hear directly from the retailers they represent.

  Swipe Fees and Payments

NACS is advocating for policies that would require the credit card industry to compete on swipe fees and bring down the cost of these excessive fees for retailers and consumers alike.

  Business Taxes

As Congress considers expiring tax provisions and other elements of tax reform legislation, NACS works to ensure that policymakers recognize the various tax provisions that retailers use to create jobs and help reduce the costs of goods.

  SNAP

It’s critical that Congress and the administration understand the essential role convenience stores play serving Americans who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Intoxicating Hemp Beverages and Hemp-Derived Products

Unless current law changes, hemp-derived products and most CBD products currently sold in convenience stores will become illegal to sell in November 2026.
