OKLAHOMA CITY—The first half of the year continues to be a busy time for new convenience store openings.
Love’s Travel Stops now serves customers in Mobile, Alabama, thanks to a travel stop that opened this week. The Mobile store adds 90 jobs and 109 truck parking spaces to Mobile County.
“We’re excited to open our 17th location in Alabama and add another stop for customers on the Gulf Coast,” said Greg Love, co-CEO of Love’s, in a press release. “Our team members will help get professional drivers and four-wheel customers back on the road quickly and safely while providing a good value at competitive prices.”
Love’s has opened numerous travel centers since the first of the year, complete with showers, laundries, dog parks, gourmet coffee and Mobile to Go Zone with the latest electronics. The new location is open 24/7 and offers many amenities, including more than 15,000 square feet, shower and laundry facilities, and a dog park. Love’s Fresh Kitchen concept provides fresh foodservice and bean-to-cup gourmet coffee service. In honor of the grand opening, Love’s will donate $2,000 to the Foundation of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
Meanwhile, Atlanta, Georgia-based RaceTrac has opened a new travel center in Davenport, Florida. This 8,100-square-foot facility will serve a variety of professional drivers and workers that pass through daily with everything they need to refuel and recharge. RaceTrac plans to open five additional travel centers this year.
The travel center features on-the-go food and beverage options like grab-and-go pizza and sandwiches, fried chicken tenders and chicken sandwiches, whole and cut fruit and salads, as well as roller grill favorites, frozen treats and fresh-brewed coffee.
Numerous convenience retailers are investing in new sites. Sheetz recently announced plans to open at least 10 more stores in Central Ohio in 2021. Meanwhile, Wawa opened its first stand-alone, drive-thru location in Morrisville, Pa., and Yesway stores opened a new Allsup’s Market Concept store in New Mexico. Last month, Cumberland Farms, Duchess and Rutter’s opened new locations, as reported in NACS Daily.
