IRVING, Texas—Functional drinks are drawing in customers, and 7-Eleven has been quick to recognize the opportunities. A few months ago, 7-Eleven hopped on the burgeoning energy drink category with the release of Quake, a new private-brand performance energy drink. Yahoo Finance reports that the c-store chain is releasing a new Slurpee drink flavor: Quake Energy Berry Blast.
The flavor is available at participating 7-Eleven, Stripes and Aplus locations while supplies last. The multi-berry-flavored Slurpee contains B vitamins and electrolytes and is energized with 69 mg of caffeine. A 12-ounce serving of the snow-white frozen beverage contains 1 gram of sugar.
The energy drink category reported annual sales of $13.9 billion in 2019—75% of which were sold in c-stores.
"7-Eleven's recent private brand successes have crossed almost every beverage category from energy and sports drinks to cold-pressed juice, ready-to-drink tea and award-winning wine," said 7-Eleven President and CEO Joe DePinto. "When Quake became an instant hit last summer, Slurpee lovers immediately recognized its potential as a Slurpee flavor. Our beverage team has taken that idea and created a great product our Slurpee fans will love."
The c-store’s Quake energy drink is available in a few Slurpee flavors, including original, orange fusion, tropical lemon and the new berry blast. The drink is also available in cans. Quake is not the only new thing to come to the Slurpee. Back in December, the Slurpee went digital with LED light-up messaging.
