Wawa has teamed up with NFL player Saquon Barkley for the second year in a row to “inspire young athletes,” according to the retailer. A new ad spot titled “Hungry for Greatness” debuts today, and encourages athletes to start their day with Wawa’s new $5 Sizzli Meal.
The $5 Sizzli Meal pairs any of Wawa’s signature Sizzli breakfast sandwiches with a hot or iced coffee, or a 16 oz fountain beverage. The lineup also features the limited-time Pancake Sizzli, made with sausage, egg and cheese. The meal will be available at all Wawa locations from September 8 through October 25.
In the commercial, Barkley steps into the role of football coach, rallying a tired and hungry team of young athletes as they gear up for the second half of the game. Barkley is joined by his daughter Jada, who makes her commercial debut when she steps in with a tray full of Wawa Sizzlis.
“As school starts and fall sports return for families, Wawa’s $5 Sizzli Meal gives busy families a convenient way to enjoy fresh food and beverages at an incredible value,” said Doug Martin, chief marketing officer at Wawa. “And there’s nobody better than icon Saquon Barkley and his daughter Jada to help spread the word that a great day starts with a stop at Wawa!”
As part of its partnership with Saquon Barkley, Wawa said it will make a $25,000 contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia. Last year, the retailer partnered with the Philadelphia Eagles running back to create a limited-time Wawa hoagie called “The Saquon.”
In other recent Wawa news, earlier this year the retailer and The Wawa Foundation celebrated America’s 250th anniversary by continuing their “annual support of the USO,” with new and existing ways customers can show thanks to those who serve.
From May 25 to July 19, customers could round up at checkout to donate to the USO. During 2025’s campaign window, customers raised $900,000 to support the USO’s programs.
