Sheetz was named the third best “large-sized” company on the 2026 Best Workplaces in Retail list from Fortune and Great Place to Work.
The annual survey asks employees if leaders are accessible, if they feel respected as individuals, if they receive support for their well-being and personal development and if they have opportunities to contribute, among other questions.
“Ranking third nationally, this is Sheetz’s 11th straight year being named to this prominent workplace list, trailing only Wegmans and Target. Sheetz has ranked in the top 10 of this list each year it has appeared,” Sheetz said in a press release sent to NACS.
The recognition reflects the experiences of Sheetz employees, 90% of whom said Sheetz is a great place to work, compared with 57% of employees at a typical U.S.-based company, Sheetz said.
Oklahoma-based QuikTrip ranked 19th on the large company list. On the small and medium-sized list, the Maryland-based Wills Group, owner of Dash In stores, ranked second.
Ninety-one percent of employees at Wills Group/Dash In said it is a great place to work, and 79% of employees at QuikTrip said it is a great place to work.
In August, Sheetz was named to this year’s "Companies that Care" list by Great Place To Work and People Magazine. This marked the fifth consecutive year, and sixth time in seven years, that Sheetz has been ranked on this prestigious national list.
Meanwhile, Marathon Petroleum (MPC) was named a 2026 Top Company for Women to Work in Trucking by Redefining the Road, the official magazine of Women In Trucking, the company said in a press release. This is the fifth year in a row MPC has earned this recognition. The recognition highlights companies across the commercial freight transportation marketplace that are “creating workplaces where all employees can build careers, lead and grow.”
MPC’s benefits package for professional drivers includes four-day workweeks, paid parental leave for full-time and part-time employees, adoption assistance, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) plan employer match and a company pension plan.
“This recognition is meaningful because it reflects the work our teams do every day to create an environment where members of our transport team, including drivers, can succeed safely, feel supported and see a long-term future in transportation,” said Katie Meschede, Marathon Petroleum transport operations director west. “Safety is the key to our operations, and that fundamental commitment goes hand in hand with building a culture where people have the resources, training and opportunities to grow.”
