Pennsylvania-based Sheetz is teaming up with Pittsburgh Pirates baseball player Paul Skenes to launch “The Big Glizzy,” the retailer said in a press release sent to NACS.

“Earlier this year, the 6-foot-6 right-hander challenged Sheetz to think bigger when it came to hot dogs. The major Mid-Atlantic restaurant and convenience chain needed something with a bit more ‘rizz’ on its menu…and Sheetz listened. The result? Behold the ‘The Big Glizzy,’ a menu item that demands your respect and attention,” Sheetz said.

The Big Glizzy dog is made with an extra-large Nathan's Famous stadium-style hot dog and served on a soft bun.

Earlier this week, Skenes signed autographs and introduced fans at a Pittsburgh- area Sheetz to The Big Glizzy. Later that day, the menu item was officially unveiled at Sheetz’s "Glizzy Gala," an invitation-only event where customers and content creators received an exclusive first taste of the new menu item.

Sheetz said that on Independence Day, Americans will eat 150 million hot dogs, enough to stretch from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles more than five times.

"I'm a big fan of hot dogs, but let's be honest, sometimes the average hot dog leaves you wanting a little more," said Skenes. "Sheetz and I worked together to create something bigger, bolder and packed with flavor, and the result is The Big Glizzy. It's got the size, the flavor and all the customization options you'd expect from Sheetz."

In other recent Sheetz news, earlier this year Sheetz was named to the 2026 list of 100 Best Companies to Work For by Fortune Media and Great Place to Work for the 11th consecutive year. The company ranked 32nd on the list—its highest placement ever, it said. The 100 Best Companies to Work For list honors companies that build a “high-trust workplace environment,” measured through Great Place To Work’s proprietary survey platform, confidential feedback from more than one million employees in the U.S., and HR data from participating companies.
