Dutch Bros Coffee recently rolled out its summer menu, featuring a new drink category and the return of “two beloved seasonal sips” according to the retailer.
New for the season are the Myst Energy Refreshers with plant-powered caffeine, electrolytes and antioxidants. The drink comes in flavors including Passion Water, Cherry Lime, Firestorm or Tropical.
The QSR is also bringing back its Dulce de Leche drink, “a mesmerizing blend of caramel, white chocolate, cinnamon and sweet cream complete with Soft Top, caramel drizzle and cinnamon sprinks,” and the Strawberry Colada, “a chill fantasy of pineapple, coconut, sweet cream with strawberry fruit on top.”
Meanwhile over at Starbucks, the company also recently launched its summer menu, featuring “the colorful new Tropical Butterfly Refresher and the return of the Iced Horchata Shaken Espresso and the new Horchata Frappuccino blended beverage.”
Starbucks said the new Tropical Butterfly Refresher features guava and passionfruit flavors and bursts of mango-pineapple flavored pearls. A splash of butterfly pea flower infusion, derived from the plant known for its vibrant hue, creates a colorful experience.
The horchata drinks feature horchata syrup made by blending cinnamon, sweet vanilla and nutty notes of toasted rice.
Dunkin’ announced the national retail launch of Dunkin’ Refreshers Singles To Go!, “a zero-sugar drink mix that brings fan-favorite Dunkin’ Refreshers flavors to a single-serve powdered stick format.”
The sticks are available in Strawberry Dragonfruit Lemonade, Mango Pineapple, Kiwi Watermelon and returning Peach Passionfruit Lemonade. Each single-serve stick contains 80 mg of caffeine.
Functional beverage sales increased by 8.8% in 2025, according to NIQ. The market has seen more products promising more benefits. It’s an increasingly important—and increasingly complex—category.
