To celebrate 80 years in business, Chick-fil-A launched a year-long “Newstalgia”-inspired celebration, with new menu items, events and retro packaging, the company announced in a press release.
Frosted sodas and floats joined the permanent menu, combining Chick-fil-A Icedream with fountain beverages.
For the first event of the year, customers can purchase and collect four retro-inspired cup designs, “celebrating iconic looks from Chick-fil-A's past and present.” Three thousand specialty Golden Fan Cups will be randomly dispersed for sale across the country. Customers that purchase one will receive free Chick-fil-A for a year.
Burger King launched a new customer-inspired item, the Ultimate Steakhouse Whopper. The burger features flame-grilled beef, served on a toasted sesame seed bun and stacked with golden onion rings, crispy bacon, sautéed mushrooms, melty Swiss cheese and creamy peppercorn aioli.
The QSR said the innovation follows the launch of the BBQ Brisket Whopper and Crispy Onion Whopper last year—the first two fan-inspired innovations in the “Whopper by You” series.
Burger King also rolled out Cinnamon Apple Pie as a seasonal dessert.
Taco Bell launched its new Luxe Value Menu, which offers 10 items priced at $3 or less—including five new innovations and five items from the Cravings Value Menu.
New menu items include Mini Taco Salad, Beefy Potato Loaded Griller, Chips and Nacho Supreme Dip, Avocado Ranch Chicken Stacker and for a limited time, Salted Caramel Churros. Other items on the menu are the Cheesy Roll Up, Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, 3 Cheese Chicken Flatbread Melt and the Cheesy Double Beef Burrito.
Dunkin’ announced that it is now offering protein milk, as well as a broader menu update that includes new protein-forward beverages.
The company partnered with rapper Megan Thee Stallion to promote its new Dunkin’ Protein Refreshers. The new beverages are Megan’s Mango Protein Refresher, Strawberry Protein Refresher, Caramel Chocolate Iced Protein Latte, Almond Iced Protein Matcha Latte and Iced Protein Latte with Sugar-Free Vanilla.
Other new menu items include Caramel Chocolate Shakin’ Espresso, Cocoa Cloud Latte, Berry Moonlight Daydream Refresher and the Golden Chocolate Donut. Dunkin’ is also bringing back its Sweet Black Pepper Bacon.
Krispy Kreme announced its “bringing the excitement of Monday’s game day to football fans with its new Championship Dozen, available exclusively on Monday, January 19.” The Championship Dozen features six football-shaped doughnuts: three dipped in orange colored icing and three in crimson colored icing, plus six Original Glazed doughnuts. However, customers can order up to six of the orange or crimson football doughnuts to build a dozen.
The Orange Football Doughnut is an unglazed shell doughnut filled with white Kreme, dipped in orange colored vanilla icing with green icing football laces. The Crimson Football Doughnut is an unglazed shell doughnut filled with white Kreme, dipped in crimson colored chocolate icing with white icing football laces.
