The bar and lounge stores will have TVs to watch sports and video gaming terminals.

Pennsylvania-based Rutter’s is launching a new store format that adds a bar to its convenience stores. The retailer’s 21+ Bar and Lounge locations will measure 14,000 square feet and feature a bar and lounge with TVs, adult beverages, and video game terminals, according to a press release.

Rutter’s first two Pennsylvania bar locations are scheduled to open this spring in Johnstown and Milton.

According to Rutter’s, the stores will feature:

  • “A massive selection of adult beverages—customers can choose from an extensive list of canned cocktails, beer and wine.”
  • A “high-energy atmosphere” with over 20, 65-inch HD TVs broadcasting sports games.
  • Live sports tickers with real-time updates.
  • Five video gaming terminals.

In addition to the entertainment and bar experience, the new Rutter’s locations will also offer classic convenience store offerings, Made For You food, beer caves and fuel options.

Rutter’s has experience in the beer category—in November 2024, Rutter’s rereleased one of its popular branded beers for the holiday season, a white chocolate cherry golden stout. The beer was crafted in partnership with Rusty Rail Brewing and is an “offshoot of the highly praised ‘Luminous’ brew, but it comes with a distinctive holiday twist that pleases beer aficionados and holiday enthusiasts alike.”

The retailer describes the beer as “a golden stout-style beer with a hint of cherry complemented by a rich white chocolate finish.”

The stout came after the launch of Rutter’s and Rusty Rail’s fall seasonal beer, the Haunted Harvest Pumpkin Spice Ale. The launch was exclusively at Rutter’s Pennsylvania beer locations.
