Wawa broke ground on its first West Virginia location in the Inwood community earlier this week, reported local news outlet Delco Today.

The location is expected to open in the first quarter of next year, reported the outlet.

“Wawa is expanding to West Virginia, and we are thrilled to continue growing in new markets to provide the community with our one-of-a-kind offer and commitment to supporting the community,” said Wawa Vice President of Real Estate John Poplawski.

According to Delco Today, Wawa plans to build between three and five new stores in West Virginia over as many years. Wawa is also reportedly looking at potentially opening new stores in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia and Tennessee.

In November, Wawa opened the doors to its first Georgia store, with plans to open two more locations. The stores will be in Bainbridge, Brunswick and Jesup.

“We are thrilled to open three stores this year to bring our investment in Georgia to life. … Over the next few years, we will be continuing to expand and invest in the region as we build new stores and connect with new customers in more Georgia communities,” said Brian Schaller, president of Wawa.

Wawa stated that in 2025, the company will open five to six additional stores in Hinesville, Pooler, Waycross, Valdosta and Albany. Over the next five to eight years, Wawa plans to build and open more than 26 stores in Georgia, at the pace of around three to four stores per year.
