Partner Tech USA Inc. launched Paula yesterday, a “compact tabletop kiosk designed to streamline self-checkout and self-ordering for retailers and quick-service restaurants (QSRs). Featuring AI-powered capabilities, Paula enhances operational efficiency, reduces shrink and delivers a seamless checkout experience,” Partner Tech said in a press release.
The supplier said that Paula’s all-in-one, space-saving design features a high-brightness touchscreen that adjusts to different table heights, a built-in speaker for audio prompts, a barcode scanner and a receipt printer.
Paula is available in two models:
- Paula Kiosk: a self-ordering solution “designed for QSRs, coffee shops and fast-casual dining. This model simplifies ordering and payment, reducing wait times and improving order accuracy. A compact LED tri-light provides visual status updates for smooth operations.”
- Paula SCO: a self-checkout “featuring AI-powered item recognition, theft prevention and optional age verification. Computer vision and a security scale detect suspicious behavior and verify scanned items, while Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) tag support helps reduce losses. Partner Tech’s analytics tools provide real-time insights into store performance, empowering retailers to optimize operations.”
Earlier this month, NACS Daily reported that after a “highly successful initial deployment,” Wesco convenience stores plans to double its number of Mashgin’s AI-powered checkouts, bringing the total to over 20 locations.
Mashgin’s kiosks “use computer vision to instantly ring up items, without the need to scan barcodes. Customers simply place their items down and are ready to pay. The kiosk can identify multiple items simultaneously in seconds with nearly 100% accuracy,” the company said.
Additionally, Parker’s Kitchen teamed up with NCR Voyix Corporation, a provider of digital commerce solutions, to “enhance its customer experience with state-of-the-art self-checkout technology.”
Parker’s Kitchen is reportedly using NCR Voyix self-checkout technology at 62 sites with plans to expand to more locations in the coming years.
