Pennsylvania-based Rutter’s ran a fundraising campaign from September 19 through October at all 45 of its York County locations, raising $55,000 to aid the families of five York County law enforcement officers who tragically lost their lives or were seriously injured in the line of duty earlier this fall.

Rutter’s said it was deeply moved by the bravery and sacrifice of local officers, and will contribute proceeds to the York County Safety Collaborative’s Honor Their Service Fund, which was created specifically to support the families of the three fallen and two seriously wounded officers from the Northern York County Regional Police Department and the York County Sheriff’s Office.

The campaign concluded on October 31. Customers contributed $18,000, and Rutter’s Children’s Charities matched those donations with an additional $37,000, bringing the total to $55,000.

The Rutter’s Children’s Charities Board released the following statement:

“Our hearts go out to the families of these courageous officers, and to everyone in our community who has been touched by this tragedy. These men and women dedicate their lives to keeping us safe. Supporting their families in a time of unimaginable loss is the least we can do to honor their service and sacrifice.”

In other Rutter’s news, earlier this year it opened its first store in Virginia, located in Winchester. “This milestone marks the company’s 91st location across the Mid-Atlantic region and signifies its expansion into a fourth state, advancing Rutter’s ongoing growth strategy,” Rutter’s said.

The location is open 24/7 and spans nearly 14,000 square feet. It also features a beer cave, Rutter’s Made For You food and a 1747 Bar & Lounge, the retailer’s 21+ destination offering nearly 75 alcoholic beverage options, including canned cocktails, spiked slushies, beer and wine.
