HOP Shops convenience stores donated $27,000 to the Javonte Woods Foundation, which seeks to raise awareness of asthma and prevent death from asthma attacks.
“We are honored to contribute to such a meaningful cause,” said Damon Bail, VP of retail operations at Valor Oil, parent company of HOP Shops. “Partnering with [former Cincinnati Bengal player] Ickey Woods and the Javonte Woods Foundation allows us to make a positive impact in the community and support families facing challenging health issues.”
The company presented the funds during an event in Las Vegas earlier this month. This is the second year the company has donated to the foundation, bringing the total to nearly $60,000. The Javonte Woods Foundation, dedicated to supporting families affected by asthma and other respiratory conditions, said it will use the funds to further its mission of providing education, resources and support to those in need.
Ickey Woods, founder of the Javonte Woods Foundation, expressed his gratitude for the donation. “This generous contribution from HOP Shops and Valor Oil will help us continue our work and reach more families in need. We are incredibly thankful for their support.”
Other retailers also supported their communities this week. Mirabito donated $60,000 to local food banks in the state of New York after raising funds though an in-store round up campaign in March.
Pilot launched its new corporate giving initiative, Miles of Good, which will focus on giving back to Pilot communities through giving and donations, volunteering and community partnerships.
And the Wills Group participated in National Volunteer Week with three different environmental cleanup opportunities for its employees in Maryland, Virginia and Delaware.
