Sheetz has officially broken ground on its $169 million facility in Findlay, Ohio, slated to open in 2026. Once completed, the building will house new food preparation and distribution services, according to a Sheetz press release.

The new facility will support the retailer’s growth in Ohio and Michigan and create more than 700 jobs over the next five years, Sheetz said.

This will be Sheetz’s third distribution center, with the other two located in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

“We are excited about the new jobs this facility will bring to Findlay and Hancock County,” said Sheetz President and CEO Travis Sheetz. “The support from the local, county and state leaders has been instrumental in making this project a reality. As we continue expanding across Ohio and Michigan, Findlay will be a key driver of our growth and future success.”

In July, Sheetz opened a new store in Lancaster, Ohio. Sheetz said that it has plans to open more locations in Ohio in the next year.

Kwik Trip also started construction on its second distribution center in July.

When completed, the 280,000-square-foot distribution center in DeForest, Wisconsin, will service 350 Kwik Trip stores and include freezer, cooler and dry good space as well as four air conditioning rooms for banana ripening.

Additionally, Kwik Trip said the distribution center will include a truck wash and maintenance facility and an on-site health clinic for its 400 distribution center employees, according to Channel 3000.

“With our consistent growth in the number of stores, it is important for us to find the most efficient way to provide our stores with the many products they need. Our new Distribution Center is an exciting development for Kwik Trip,” CEO and President of Kwik Trip Scott Zietlow said.

The new distribution center is set to reduce the cost of distribution for Kwik Trip’s southern operations, as currently all stores are serviced from the retailer’s La Crosse distribution center.
