Sheetz Keeps Expanding in Michigan

The retailer confirmed two more Detroit-area locations to come.

Pennsylvania-based Sheetz is set to make its debut in Michigan soon, with the first location set to open by the end of the year, reported the Detroit Free Press. The retailer also announced that two more Detroit-area locations have been confirmed, though opening dates have not yet been disclosed.

The two new locations  adding a second store in Romulus at Middlebelt Road north of I-94, along with a one in Chesterfield Township on 23 Mile Road east of I-94.

Sheetz first announced its plans to expand its footprint into Michigan in November 2022. Travis Sheetz, president and CEO, said that he believes the c-stores "will resonate" with locals and that the company would like to have a "major presence in the entire Detroit metro area.”

The company intends to eventually open around 75 stores in the state.
The first Sheetz to open in Michigan will be 6,900 square feet with 12 vehicle fueling stations and five truck fueling stations.

Elsewhere, Kent Kwik recently expanded into its eighth operating state with the acquisition of Alabama-based DC Oil Company. The deal included 13 Chevron Texaco-branded convenience stores, a fuel transportation fleet and a portfolio of dealer accounts.

The company also announced plans to expand with new stores in Alabama and the other southeastern states it currently operates in. With the transaction, The Kent Companies’ total store count now stands at 104 locations.
