GREENVILLE, S.C.—The Spinx Company commemorated its 50th anniversary by donating over 2,000 meals to multiple nonprofit organizations via its Cluk Truk. Spinx launched the mobile food truck in 2020 to serve its fried chicken in a new way for surrounding communities.

Spinx celebrated 50 years in business on December 1, 2022. As part of its yearlong celebration, Spinx selected one organization per month to receive free meals from the Cluk Truk.

Over the course of 12 months, Spinx served a total of 2,304 meals to these local organizations:

  • January: United Ministries, 125 meals
  • February: Highland Square Apartments, 300 meals
  • March: Safe Harbor, 49 meals
  • April: March of Dimes, 845 meals
  • May: FAVOR, 101 meals
  • June: Miracle Hill, 140 meals
  • July: Greenville County Police, 85 meals
  • August: Boys and Girls Club of Greenville, 113 meals
  • September: Greenville Fire Departments, 83 meals

  • December: A Child’s Haven, 162 meals

“We are sincerely grateful to our community partners for their continued support over the last 50 years,” says Stewart Spinks, founder and chairman of The Spinx Company. “Without these organizations, the Upstate would not be the place it is today. We celebrated a big anniversary this past year, and it just made sense to share the celebration with our neighbors and partners.

Last fall, the Spinx Company was honored with the first-ever FMN Fuels Innovator of the Year Award by Fuels Market News Magazine. The Greenville, South Carolina-based c-store chain earned the award for a fuels retailer with fewer than 100 locations.

The awards were determined by combining the criteria used in the annual OPIS/FMN Fuel Leaders issue that ranks retailers with a core focus on fueling efficiency, plus examining how retailers innovate with the fuel products and EV charging opportunities to meet future conditions that include the growth of net zero emission vehicles.

In August, Spinx was named the No. 1 Best Place to Work in South Carolina by SC Biz News and the Best Companies Group. Each year, these groups join to produce the Best Places to Work in South Carolina program. This initiative is dedicated to identifying and recognizing South Carolina’s most innovative and top-notch employers.
