BOISE, Idaho—Following the success of last fall’s Boise State football team trading card set, Jacksons Food Stores and Boise State Athletics announced another first-of-its-kind program.

Jacksons and Bronco Sports Properties reached a multiyear sponsorship agreement that will create limited-edition trading cards featuring every Boise State Athletics team and create an opportunity for every Boise State student-athlete to be depicted on a card. Jacksons will release the next set this week, while the 2023-24 academic year will see a full series of three sets released, according to a press release from the organizations.

The deal makes Boise State the first school in the country to have every sport represented in a trading card series since the advent of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) in college athletics. Prior to 2021, NCAA rules prohibited individual athletes from receiving NIL compensation. A Supreme Court ruling forced the NCAA to change its policy, although the NIL landscape remains in flux. In 2022, Wawa signed a multiyear sponsorship with the University of Miami and University of Central Florida football teams.

The upcoming set includes two unique cards of each men’s and women’s basketball student-athlete and one each from gymnastics and the spirit squad, plus sequentially numbered autograph cards of six select student-athletes. Each 15-card pack will retail for $12.99 and is guaranteed to include at least three cards from men’s basketball and women’s basketball and gymnastics, along with two spirit squad cards. Jacksons will be the exclusive retailer, with packs available at 104 stores in and around the greater Boise area.

One out of every 10 packs will include an autographed card from a high-profile student-athlete. The three-set series for the 2023-24 academic year will include every Boise State sport program. The sets will be divided seasonally, with releases in the fall, winter and spring.

"Our student-athletes work hard, and we are proud to be able to recognize all of them with a community partner like Jacksons. Name, image and likeness continues to be a priority for our department, and we are grateful to Bronco Nation for stepping up and supporting these endeavors," said Jeramiah Dickey, Boise State director of athletics.

In October, Hershey’s Reese’s brand signed college football players with the last name Reese to NIL deals.
