ALEXANDRIA, Va.—The Fork & Compass restaurant opened in January at the Petro Stopping Center in Perrysburg, Ohio, and had a formal ribbon cutting this week.

According to TravelCenters of America (TA), “the Fork & Compass concept was created to provide a reimagined experience for professional drivers, motorists and local residents. Designed to be a destination spot for the community, the restaurant has unique food options for all ages in a family-friendly atmosphere. The new design layout fosters a relaxing environment with various seating options, including booths, counter seats, a large community table for family and friends to gather, or a more intimate setting for two near the ‘fireplace.’ A newly created menu features appetizers and unique options including a mac-and-cheese bar.”

In September, TA and Cleveland Clinic announced a collaboration to improve the health of truck drivers. The partnership means healthier options for dining and snacks at all TA locations.

The Fork & Compass menu highlights healthy options recommended by Cleveland Clinic. These include a veggie omelet and a yogurt parfait for breakfast and entrees such as salmon and grilled chicken and sides that include broccoli and sliced tomatoes.

The mac-and-cheese bar has four varieties of mac and cheese: original, Nashville hot, chipotle chicken and Carolina, which features beer cheese, pulled pork, bacon and bourbon barbecue sauce.

Other TA proprietary restaurants include Iron Skillet and Country Pride.

Last week bp and TravelCenters announced that bp will purchase TA for $1.3 billion.
