Some New C-Store Openings Close Out 2023

RaceTrac and Thorntons are among those adding stores in new locations.

Several c-store chains announced new store openings.

RaceTrac opened its first location in Indiana this month and is slated to open its first South Carolina stores as well. One South Carolina store will feature an extended diesel offering while the other will be the brand’s largest travel center.

Thorntons announced the opening of its 19th store in Ohio but its first in the Monroe area. The company now operates a total of 18 stores in the Cincinnati and northern Kentucky area. The 5,500-square-foot facility features 20 fueling positions, four diesel lanes and a CAT scale. Inside, guests will enjoy fresh burritos and sandwiches prepared throughout the day, a self-checkout station, bean-to-cup coffee and various fountain beverages with nugget ice.

Grocery store operator H-E-B is opening its third Fresh Bites convenience store in central Texas. The store will offer on-the-go options with prepared food, fresh produce and other meal options. Additionally, the location will feature a True Texas Tacos restaurant.

Royal Farms announced a new location in Norfolk, Virginia, that is set to open in the new year. The location will feature a gas station with 16 fueling positions, including an ethanol free pump and a carwash. The store will also be open 24/7.

Love’s opened four new travel centers within a single week. The new locations are in Michigan City, Indiana; Nicholson, Mississippi; Watertown, New York; and Salinas, California. Each travel center is at least 11,000 square feet and is open 24/7.
