Walmart Will Open Its First U.S. Ghost Kitchen

The retailer is bringing a Canadian ghost kitchen operator to its U.S. stores.

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Walmart will soon open its first U.S. ghost kitchen by Ghost Kitchen Brands in Rochester, expanding on its existing relationship with the Canadian operator, Chain Store Age reports. Walmart Canada has been working with Ghost Kitchen Brands since March of this year.

The Rochester Walmart will have meal pickup and delivery available from 25 brands. The partnership will bring Ghost Kitchen Brands to more U.S. Walmart locations in California, Georgia, Illinois and Texas, among other states, this year and into next. Currently Walmart Canada and Ghost Kitchens Brands have meal pickup and delivery at an Ontario store, with more coming in Ontario and Quebec.

In the Rochester store ghost kitchen, brands include Amaya Indian, Beaver Tails, Big Chicken, Cinnabon, Costa Coffee, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, Fries of the World, Frutta Bowls, Funnel Cake, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Lola’s Latin Food, Monster Cupcakes, Nathan’s Famous, Pepe’s Perogies, Quzinos, Red Bull, Saladworks, Slush Puppie, Tazo Bubble Tea, The Cheesecake Factory Bakery, Wings of New York, Wow Bao and Yogen Früz.
